Now
- I’m teaching two courses this Fall: a course on game design (using Inform 7) and a course on the Bible as Literature.
- Working on another book. I’d call it Keywords of Computation if that weren’t (a) taken and (b) a bit of a cliché. But basically, it’s a bunch of philosophical/philological meditations on words like “bit,” “random,” “algorithm,” “program,” “interface,” and so on.
- Trying bullet journaling again. I think I’ve got it this time, though I will heartily recommend Taskwarrior (my usual system) for any cli afficionados.
- Reading John Behr’s The Way to Nicaea (I keep calling it the road to Nicaea, but surely people going there called it ὁ δρόμος πρὸς Νίκαιαν?); My Struggle (not that one, the Norwegian one, which—and I can’t believe I’m saying this—bears serious comparison with Proust); and various articles on “collapse informatics,” “permacomputing,” and other buzzy concepts.
- Thinking about playing around with SuperCollider, which can apparently be run without its rather elaborate ide (I despise ides for reasons that probably aren’t coherent).
- Trying to avoid reading any news.
